Diplomatic History I Course Description : Starting with the
Vienna Congress of 1814 the diplomatic relations
between the European Powers and the Ottoman Empire
in the 19th Century will be analyzed. The
policies of Great Powers of Europe with regard to
the Ottoman Empire and the main factors influencing
these policies will be studied. The political
developments and the main ideological movements in
Europe and the reformist movement in the Ottoman
Empire in the 19th Century;
Ottoman-European diplomatic relations prior to the
First World War and the developments leading to the
