Sociology is concerned with the study of whole
societies and the way in which their various parts
are connected to each other. This course attempts to
give a picture of the society we live in and the
main transformations we experience in the society.
After explaining the main theoretical perspectives,
certain key issues in sociology are going to be
focused. These issues are chosen in accordance with
the occupational interests of the Department of
